An Evening Together
The best photographs aren't always the ones we plan. At Early Light, I take a relaxed approach to family photography. Rather than scheduling short sessions back to back, I set aside the evening for one family at a time. We'll find a beautiful place, enjoy the changing light, and leave room for the unexpected. There will be portraits, of course, but also time to wander, play, laugh, and simply be together. No rushing from one pose to the next. Just a little time to make something meaningful.
A Different Approach
I believe photography should feel less like an appointment and more like an experience. That's why I only book one session per day. We can start in the warmth of the late afternoon and follow the light toward sunset, without the pressure of another family waiting for their turn.
My background in art, travel, and landscape photography has taught me to appreciate the small details, beautiful light, and moments that happen unexpectedly. I bring that same perspective to photographing families.

What Makes It Different

ONE FAMILY PER DAY
Your session is the only one on my calendar. There's no assembly line of appointments or pressure to finish before the next family arrives.
GOLDEN HOUR TO SUNSET
We'll plan our time around the best natural light of the day. The evening becomes part of the experience, giving us space for both portraits and spontaneous moments.
MORE THAN A FEW PHOTOS
I don't believe a meaningful session should be reduced to a handful of photographs. You'll receive a thoughtfully edited gallery of the images that best tell the story of our time together, without an arbitrary maximum.

FAQ
What should we expect during our session?
Think of it as spending an evening together rather than attending a traditional photoshoot. We'll meet at a location we've chosen together, take a little time to get comfortable, and let things unfold naturally. I'll offer gentle direction when needed, but there won't be a long list of poses or pressure to perform for the camera. We'll follow the beautiful evening light and capture a mix of portraits and candid moments along the way.

What if our children don't cooperate?
That's completely okay! As a parent of two young children myself, I know that little ones have their own ideas about how an evening should go. There's no expectation that everyone needs to sit still, smile, or look at the camera. Some of the most meaningful photographs happen when children are simply being themselves. We can take breaks, explore, play, and work at their pace.

How many photographs will we receive?

I don't set a predetermined limit on the number of photographs you'll receive. After our session, I'll carefully go through the images and select those that best capture your family and our time together. Each selected photograph will be thoughtfully edited and delivered in a private online gallery, where you can download your high-resolution images at no additional cost.

How do we book a session?
Simply reach out through the contact form and tell me a little about your family and what you have in mind. We'll find a date that works, talk about possible locations, and plan around the best evening light. I'm based in Camarillo and photograph families throughout Ventura County. Once we've worked out the details, I'll confirm everything with you before our session.
